I went with the family last night to see the U2:3D concert movie at the Imax in Opry Mills. It will be difficult to find the words to describe the experience, but amazing, awesome, phenomenal, riveting, breathtaking, beautiful, delightful, inspirational, and fantastic are just a few that quickly come to mind. It truly felt like being on stage with Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry. During the first 10 minutes of the concert, I was enamored and sat watching with a huge grin on my face. I couldn’t wipe it off!!
It was absolutely NOT like a movie, rather it was like attending the concert. I had front row seats, back row seats, and sometimes a stage pass at the concert. At first, I was tempted to wollup the people in front of me in the head because their arms waving in the air were blocking my view of the stage. Then I realized it was the movie - it was just that realistic. I did look around the theater a time or two at the other movie-goers and couldn’t believe they weren’t moving their heads in time to the music.
My ONLY disappointment was there wasn’t time to do all their hits like Harlem, Desire, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, In God’s Country, and more. However, other songs they sang resonated in a way I’d never considered before with the political implications, and more importantly the implications of love and peace. COEXIST. Amazing.
My oldest daughter said U2 has instantly become one of her favorite bands. My youngest daughter really enjoyed it too. Yes, you can take the whole family! Go without delay.
